Children's Ministry

Children's Ministry
The aim of our Children's Ministry programsis to facilitate Christian growth and nurture the children in accordance with the church ministry of St Matthew's.  Kid's Church also seeks to partner with parents, encouraging them in their God-given role and responsibility as the primary spiritual carers of their children, as well as welcoming new families into the community of St Matthew's.

Crèche

The youngest members of our church are not forgotten! Children from 8 months -3 years are welcome at crèche where the children are nurtured and taught about Jesus in a safe learning environment and through explorative play. A pool of volunteer Mum's and Dad's keep them care for the children each week.

Noah's Gang
Noah's GangNoah's Gang is our Kid's Church group for those of pre-school age.  The children start off in church with their parents before heading out for their age specific activities and teaching. Children are introduced to the person of Jesus at Noah's Gang through some fun and creative stories, games and crafts and are encouraged to put their trust in Him.

A Team
A Team meets on a Sunday morning and welcomes any children in Kindergarten - Year 2 at school. They also start off in the 10am service before leaving to commence their own tailored program. Through songs, Bible stories, memory verses, crafts and games the children are taught about God, who He is and what He has done for us in sending Jesus to this earth.

GTK

Growing the Kingdom (GTK) is the Kid's Church group for people in Yrs 3-5 at school. It meets on Sunday mornings during the 10am service. A Bible based, fun and cohesive program seeks to strengthen the approximately 40 children that attend each week in their knowledge of God's word, and increase their understanding of God's grace in sending Jesus to save us.  It is presented to the children in the form of a short talk, dramas, learning a memory verse, music, games, craft and prayer.

GTK supports the Bible Society's 'Hope Rwanda' Mission - a project aiming to teach Rwandan school children reconciliation from stories in the Bible. Each year we run events to raise money so that Bible Society can continue this endeavour. We were able to donate over $600 in 2007 to this worthy project.

Kid's Church Morning Tea's

Each term Kid's Church hosts a series of morning tea’s after the 10am service aimed at bringing children ministry's leaders and parents together.  We would love you to come along and meet your children's leaders who love to faithfully serve you and your children every week.

Look out for specific group details in the weekly bulletin and church calendar.

Club Max Kid's Club (Yrs 3-6)

Kid's Club

Club Max is our Kid's Club that is an afternoon of games, crafts, Bible talks and puppets for kids in Years 3-6.  It meets on Friday afternoon straight after school from 3:15pm-5pm. The cost is $5 per child and includes afternoon tea.

We have a team of dedicated leaders who love to care for the kids.

In Term 1 2010 we will have heaps of fun learning about Jesus, making new friends and doing lots of fun activities around a computer theme!

Sandwich & Bite Sized

Sandwich

Sandwich is our school holiday program for children in years 3-6 and it was run in the July school holidays this year. We followed a detective theme and tried to uncover clues to answer the question 'Who is Jesus?'

Over 80 children attended the program each day and enjoyed themselves playing sports, singing songs, spending time in small groups talking about Jesus and eating delicious lunches prepared by our chef, Tanya! Daily highlights included:

  • Joey Presto Magic Showsandwich 09.jpg
  • Mechanical Bull
  • Craft-a-noon
  • Giant inflatable obstacle course
  • and the annual Sandwich Scungy Olympic challenge!

Sandwich will be back in 2010!

Bite Sized is at the Big Top in 2009!

This is our school holiday program for children in Year 2 and ran parallel to Sandwich in the second week of the July school holidays. The children were transported to the circus, surrounded by clowns and games as they learnt about Jesus. They dined in the 'Bite Sized Cafe' each day and enjoyed making their own pizzas for lunch on the last day!

For many of the Year 2's, Bite Sized was the highlight of their holidays and they now look forward to being part of Sandwich next year.

Kid's Church Leaders

We have a group of dedicated volunteers who serve us in our Children's Ministry each week preparing lessons, crafts and activities and teaching our children about Jesus. It is such a valuable ministry as Jesus said in Matthew 19:14 -

"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
